Friday's trams

Chesterfield 7, Glasgow 22 and LT 1622 were in service on an overcast Friday morning.


As can be seen there plenty of leaves and track was damp but not wet so the drivers were having to be careful.

Halloween

Nigel Walker and a colleague putting up high powered floodlights to illuminate the Museum for this evening's festivities.

Sheffield 264 picture wanted

Here is a picture of 264 at Wakebridge in 1978 with a young Nigel Walker on the right. 264 was withdrawn at the end of the 1979 season pending a body overhaul that never materialised however it was painted in the workshop in the autumn of 1984.

It was repainted in the post war livery with a grey roof which it still carries. Does any one know why? Has any one a photograph of it being painted in 1984 or shortly afterwards? 

The Wardwick

The last tram to use these tracks would have been on 30th December 1933 when Derby's Ashbourne Road route closed.

Wakebridge mining display

The mining display at Wakebridge is open on Sundays.

For me the most interesting exhibit was this airial photograph of the quarry with the little 'You are here' arrow at the bottom left. What will beome of this giant hole in the ground now that the quarry is no longer in use?

Interactive displays

On Sunday I saw 3 interactive displays in the exhibition hall. They are low down and obviously intended for small children.

The second picture gives a more realistic view of Eastern European cars. They were unreliable and badly maintained.

In addition to Berlin 3006, Rack 2 and Glasgow 22 were in service and the Museum was busy with the trams carrying full loads.
